Child’s striped cotton beret. This beret is knitted in the round, but if you add one knit stitch to the beginning and end of each row, you can knit the pattern on two straight needles and seam it.
Size: to fit child aged six months to one year.
Requirements
Yarn:
- One 50g ball of Rowan Cotton Glace or Rowan 4 ply Cotton for main colour A;
- and one 50g ball of same yarn for stripe colour B.
Needles:
- Four 9-inch dpns, size 2.25 or 2.5 mm (UK and Canadian size 13 ; US size 1) – OR –
- Same size circular needle 40 cm long, with four 7-inch dpns in same size for finishing centre.

Gauge
- 7.5 sts per inch (30 sts per 4in) on 2.25 – 2.5mm needles
NB: This is a tight gauge to create a firm fabric for the hat.
